Basel Fasnacht 2011: Bummelsonntag
April 5th, 2011On one of the three Sundays after Fasnacht, the Cliques and Gugge will have a “Bummel” which is a kind of ramble. The BMG Runzle always meets at the Spalentor on the third Sunday (known as Bummelsonntag) and we stroll to a mystery venue - where there is an apéro waiting and a speaker who will talk about something related to our sujet from the previous Fasnacht.

March 18th, 2011Wednesday morning was quite a challenge after getting to bed so late. I had to get up reasonably on time so I could meet my wife and son at the railway station as they were going to spend the day in Basel.

March 18th, 2011On the Tuesday 11:30am, the Pfyffe (piccolo) players from my clique got together at the Restaurant Harmonie for the annual “Anggeschnitte”. Basically we have a hare-of-the-dog lunch then spend the afternoon marching around a well-defined route. As usual we took in the Rathaus (town hall), then strolling along Martinsgasse towards the Münster for a drink at the Rollerhof.

March 17th, 2011This was my first Fasnacht since moving to Zürich last year. I was really in two minds about whether or not to remain active with the clique - especially now needing to find accommodation and so on. Luckily, an expat friend was able to provide me with a spare bed and the show was able to go on.
