Roche to Build Giant Gherkin

Pharmaceutical manufacturers Roche are to build a new skyscraper in Basel which if the computer generated image is anything to go by looks like a cross between a gherkin and an apple core.
We already have one skyscraper - the Messeturm - which blocks out the rather pleasant view we used to have of St. Chrischona. [...]

Filling in my Baselstadt tax return I was drawn to a Guardian essay by Richard Adams in which he has a go at those pesky people who just won’t give the taxman free reign on their bank accounts, and accuses those who arrange their affairs in a tax efficient way of being unpatriotic.

The fourth official language of Switzerland, Romansh has its roots in “Vulgar Latin” which was spoken by as spoken by Roman soldiers, officials and merchants. Romansh is spoken by the Rhaetian people of the canton Graubunden, whose origins remain the source of speculation.
